In his 40 years of experience at WJW TV-FOX 8, Herb Thomas has contributed in numerous capacities, including maintenance and set building, director of print operations, studio camera crew, photojournalist and news videographer. He created and produced the sign-off programs “Meditations” and “Celebration.”

In his work as a photojournalist and videographer Herb has traveled extensively throughout the United States, and to Canada, Israel, Armenia and El Salvador. He has covered special assignments such as Pope John Paul II’s Canadian visit; “Amandela: Mandela, Detroit, 1990”; the 1992 Republican  Convention in Houston, Texas; “SALVADOR: Sacrifices of Faith”, El Salvador, 1997; the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.

Herb was chief photographer and co-producer of the “Robin Swoboda Show” and “New Day Cleveland.” He was also the creative force, photographer, and co-producer of Cleveland’s longest running public affairs program, “Neighborhood”.

Herb is an award-winning photojournalist, garnering numerous local Emmy Awards, the International Gabriel Award, and many other local, national and international awards. He is a member of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Broadcasting Hall of Fame and NATAS Silver Circle.
